2017 has been a great year for Bodegas Piqueras, with lots of awards and prizes for our wines.
We have participated in the most important wine contests and events in the world, and our wines have earned recognition and awards given by rigorous juries and experts.
Mundus vini 2017
In this prestigious international contest Bodegas Piqueras won three silver medals for the wines:
- SILVER: Old Vines Garnacha Piqueras Black Label, a wine that stands out for the combination of soft juicy tannins and good levels of natural acidity.
- SILVER: Valcanto Garnacha Tintorera, a tasty red wine with a lot of personality.
- SILVER: Syrah Valcanto with spicy aromas of red cherries, plums and blackberries and notes of black pepper and soft tannins
Berliner Wein Trophy 2017
In the spring edition of the Berliner Wein Trophy, one of the most rigorous contests in the wine sector, Bodegas Piqueras won two gold medals.
- GOLD: Valcanto Monastrell, characterized by its distinctive aromas of black plums, blueberries, blackberries, licorice, sassafras and white pepper.
- GOLD: BlackLabel Piqueras, a wine composed 50% Monastrell and 50% Syrah
Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards
In January 2017 Bodegas Piqueras won the gold medal in the third Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards contest for Syrah 2012 wine.
- GOLD: Valcanto Syrah, made only with Syrah grape, is a red wine with rich spicy aromas of red cherries, plums and blackberries and notes of black pepper.
Asia Wine Trophy 2017
In August of 2017 we presented our wines in one of the most important wine events in Asia. An event focused on new consumers, who increasingly consume more wine. Our wine Castillo de Almansa Selección 2012 won a gold medal in recognition of its quality.

A prestigious contest that brings together the passionate for the great wines of the world: producers, tasters, consumers, distributors … In the last edition, held in Bordeaux (France), our winery was awarded with a gold medal for the wine Valcanto Syrah 2014.

Decanter World Wine Awards 2017
The participation of Bodegas Piqueras in this contest was a success. We attended to the largest and most prestigious wine competition in the world and the experts and professionals of the industry gave to our wines different recognitions:
- BRONCE: Valcanto Garnacha Tintorera 2014 has been given seal of approval, winner of a bronze medal
- Castillo de Almansa Crianza 2015 has been given seal of approval
- Castillo de Almansa Reserva 2014 has been given seal of approval
- Valcanto Syrah 2014 has been given seal of approval
