Bodegas Piqueras wines have achieved impressive results at the Beverage Testing Institute awards, one of the most important wine competitions in the United States. Seven of our wines won gold medals, all with scores of 92 points or over.

This year, our Castillo de Almansa Roble 2020 was the highest-scoring of our wines, rated at 94 points. This is the first time that Bodegas Piqueras wines have won medals at an event on the scale of the Beverage Testing Institute, which began in 1981 and has established itself as one of the most important competitions in the United States.

Piqueras Old Vines 2019, Los Losares Monastrell 2019 and Los Losares Garnacha Tintorera 2019 were all awarded 93 points. Piqueras Wild Fermented 2021, Castillo de Almansa Crianza 2019 and Castillo de Almansa Reserva 2018 also won gold medals with scores of 92 points.

Juan Pablo Cantos, head winemaker at Bodegas Piqueras, has underlined the importance of these awards for the winery in the North American market, as they are “a real boost for our wines in one of the most important places in the world, the United States, in what has been our first participation in the event”. In addition, Cantos points out, “these awards from the Beverage Testing Institute are a great achievement for one of our established brands, Castillo de Almansa, and further enhance our single vineyard wines: Los Losares”.
